Accessibility
The standard we build to, what we have done, what is still unfinished, and how to reach a person if something gets in your way.
Effective January 1, 2026
Our commitment
Car Bid Club is built so that selling a car does not depend on being able to use a mouse, see fine detail, or distinguish colours. We target Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA across the public site, the enrollment flow, and the customer dashboard.
Accessibility is treated as part of building a feature rather than a later fix, so the same standard applies to the payment and offer screens as to the marketing pages.
What that means in practice
- every form control has a visible, permanent label — placeholders are never used as labels
- errors appear in a summary at the top of the form and inline beside the field, and each summary entry links to the control it refers to
- asynchronous results, such as a ZIP-code check or a VIN lookup, are announced to screen readers rather than only appearing visually
- the whole enrollment flow can be completed using only a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator at every step
- dialogs trap focus, close on Escape, and return focus to the control that opened them
- status is never communicated by colour alone: each state carries an icon and a text label
- text meets the contrast requirements of WCAG 2.2 AA, and legal and pricing text is never reduced below a comfortably readable size
- images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers
- a skip-to-content link is the first item in the tab order on every page
- animation is limited to short transitions and is disabled entirely when your system requests reduced motion
- interactive targets are at least 44 by 44 pixels on touch screens
- the site works at 200% zoom and at narrow widths without horizontal scrolling
Known limitations
We would rather list what is not finished than claim full conformance:
- the UVeye inspection imagery shown on the inspection page is provided by our inspection partner, and the descriptive text accompanying individual images is still being improved
- documents you download, such as a bill of sale, are generated as PDFs and their tagging for screen readers has not yet been verified
- the internal administration console is not held to the same standard as the consumer experience, because it is used only by trained internal staff
These are tracked as work items rather than accepted gaps.
How we test
The critical path — checking availability, entering vehicle information, paying, scheduling an inspection, and accepting or declining an offer — is tested with the keyboard alone as part of our automated test suite. We also test at mobile, tablet and desktop widths, and with reduced motion enabled.
Automated checks catch structural problems, but they do not replace people. If something is technically valid and still unusable, we want to hear about it.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this site or the selling process is difficult or impossible for you to use, email support@carbidclub.com and describe what you were trying to do. Including the page address and the assistive technology you use helps us reproduce the problem, but it is not required.
We aim to respond within one business day. Support hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm ET.
If an accessibility barrier is preventing you from completing a step, we can complete that step with you directly rather than asking you to wait for a fix.
